How's That Talent Working Out For You?

Chances are, the pressure's on for a great finish to the year in your organization.

What has made the success or failure in most organizations? Quite simply, TALENT!

The Triangle Business Journal (Raleigh, NC) holds an event every year called "Best Places To Work". The 30 yearly winners are all shapes & sizes - but they have one thing in common: they're highly motivated to win the war for talent.

Here's what some of these winners said about talent:

"We utilize an HR outsourcing company to get the best benefits package that the market can offer. This gives us a huge advantage in retaining top talent. "

"Flexible scheduling makes us stand out from most companies in the area, and enables each employee the option to have a professional career and still be an integral part of our families' lives."

"Providing a retirement fund for each employee. We're developing a plan to share profits into employee retirement accounts while encouraging employees to also contribute to their retirement savings. (Also), not letting success and high growth change the culture."

"...continuing to find the balance between business and people needs and having the belief that each employee comes to work everyday for the same reason - do good work, motivate your team and, most importantly, have fun."

So.....what are you doing to attract & retain top talent? The kind that positively impacts profitability, productivity & morale. Could it be your company culture? Your benefits offering? Your incentive program? The on-site daycare? The professional challenge?

Don't have a good answer? How about engaging the services of an HR professional to do a thorough assessment of your talent attraction strategies? Whether it's compensation plan analysis, job descriptions, performance management programs or benefits strategy, just do it. With fewer people entering/moving through the workforce, in the post Baby Boom Era, this war for talent isn't going to get any easier...
